Save 20% on KLIA Ekspres with Visa payWave

02/07/2014

Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) has teamed up with Visa to allow Visa payWave cardholders to enjoy a 20 percent discount on the one-way fare. Passengers travelling on KLIA Ekspres need only to wave their Visa payWave cards at the gates to enjoy this limited time offer.

“We are delighted to offer this promotion to our travellers who use Visa payWave debit and credit cards. With a 20 percent discount, our passengers need only pay RM28 instead of the normal RM35 for a one way trip on KLIA Ekspres,” said Pn. Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL. “Our partnership with Visa has produced a great travel offer, and both our customers benefit from it. By using Visa payWave on KLIA Ekspres, our customers can travel in comfort and reach their destinations easier,” she continued.

ERL was the first public transport operator in South East Asia to introduce the use of Visa payWave in 2010. It was aimed at improving customer experience by providing a quick, convenient and secure way to pay for rail fare. Travel is more seamless without having to queue to buy a ticket or fumble for cash.

Stuart Tomlinson, Visa Country Manager for Malaysia, said: “Visa payWave makes everyday transactions faster and easier for consumers. Consumers have readily gone cashless and are fast adopting the use of contactless payments for convenience. Visa payWave is just as secure as paying with any Visa Credit or Debit cards – but faster. We are pleased to be working with ERL to encourage more people to use contactless and electronic payments in the country in line with the Malaysian government’s e-payment vision.”

The promotion is applicable for the first 4,500 transactions made with Visa payWave at KLIA Ekspres entry points in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KL Sentral, from now until 31st March 2014. Terms and conditions apply. For more information on Express Rail Link and its services, visit www.KLIAekspres.com or call Customer Enquiry at +603-2267 8000 (Monday to Friday 8.30am-6.00pm).

Visa payWave is Visa’s contactless payment technology and can be found on Visa cards bearing the Visa payWave symbol.  It enables Visa cardholders to make faster payments in a convenient and secure manner. Visa payWave cards have an embedded antenna and microchip, enabling "contactless" communication with a reader at the checkout. From there, the transaction is processed through the same secure Visa network used for all Visa transactions.
