Final Chance to Win Trip to 2014 FIFA World Cup™ with Visa Financial Football

04/11/2014

Malaysians have until April 16 to take part in the Visa Financial Football Malaysia competition at www.my.financialfootball.com to win a trip for two to the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil.

As the competition heads into its final week, Choo Leong Lim, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, currently sits at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 179,150.

Lim, who is self-employed, was also the first weekly winner of the five-week long competition, which earned him the prize of a RM1,000 Sijil Simpanan Premium certificate from BSN. According to Lim, he entered the Visa Financial Football competition after reading about it in the newspapers, and found the game entertaining as well as a good way to learn about personal money management.

Ng Kong Boon, Visa Country Manager, Malaysia, said: “The Visa Financial Football online game combines two causes which are close to our hearts, promoting financial literacy and uniting the country through sports with our sponsorship of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.  We’re very encouraged by the response to the game, which entertains while teaching the fundamentals of money management to thousands of Malaysians.”

“I’d like to congratulate the current top scorer in the game, Mr. Lim and wish him all the best for the Grand Finals of the competition, which will take place on 23 April. I would also like to encourage more Malaysians to take part and try to win a football experience of a lifetime in Brazil as well as other attractive prizes before the competition closes on 16 April 2014.”

Open to all Malaysians aged 18 and above, permanent residents of Malaysia, or those who hold a Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) status, the competition uses an educational video game accompanied by a classroom curriculum and is entirely skills-based.

To participate, all you need to do is log on to www.my.financialfootball.com, click on “Join The Contest” and “Play the Game”. To ensure that scores are recorded, players have to register and login. The game is played by answering multiple choice questions on financial concepts such as savings, budgeting and financial planning to advance the ball towards your opponent’s goalpost and score as many goals as you can. With each correct answer, players pass, dribble and score their way through an interactive football match.

The Visa Financial Football Malaysia Competition is supported by seven of the country’s leading financial institutions – Aeon Credit Services, Bank Islam, BSN, Hong Leong Bank, Maybank, Public Bank and UOB – which also host links to Financial Football through their websites and promote financial education through electronic direct mailers to their customers.

Players can also follow the competition on twitter @MY_VisaFootball for updates on scores and game tips.
